EHR is where the plan lives. ekco is how the plan gets followed between visits.
Most clinic software was built for charting, phones, or checkout. In functional and integrative medicine, the buying conversation is usually distribution (Fullscript), a portal program (BodySite), a monitoring dashboard (Heads Up Health), or an inbox.
How the market splits
| Layer | Examples | What they own |
|---|---|---|
| Care plan follow-through (same job) | ekco, BodySite · (enterprise) Twistle, Commure Engage, Get Well | Between-visit follow-through on a clinic plan |
| Protocol and data monitoring | Heads Up Health | Unified patient data, wearables, and protocol tracking in a dashboard. Not an SMS-native companion. |
| Patient communication (substitute) | OhMD, Klara, Spruce | Inbox, phone, ad hoc SMS |
| EHR / practice OS | Cerbo, Practice Better, Healthie, Charm, Elation | Chart and portal |
| Dispensary | Fullscript (Assist and Journeys), in-house, Shopify | Catalog and refill commerce |
| Not us | Eko Health (stethoscopes) | A different company. |
Where ekco fits
BodySite
BodySite (A4M) is the clearest validated overlap in functional medicine: digital care plans, tasks, reminders, and adherence in a patient app and portal. They cite thousands of providers and hundreds of thousands of patients. Public list prices start at $69/month and $159/month for unlimited clients on one provider seat. ekco is the same job through healthcare iMessage.
Fullscript
Fullscript is not a head-to-head. It says more than 135,000 practitioners use it, supporting care for 10 million patients a year. Assist drafts. Journeys packages labs, protocols, and a commerce path they describe as being looked after every day. A refill email isn’t a companion that follows the plan. Knowing a bottle should be empty is not the same as seeing that a patient went quiet. Dispensary stays Fullscript. Between-visit texts stay ekco.
Heads Up Health
Heads Up Health is unified patient data and protocol monitoring for functional medicine: wearables, labs, and a tracker for whether patients are following treatments, supplements, or protocols, with automated alerts and reminders. It is a dashboard staff open. ekco is the thread patients answer. Some clinics will want both.
Enterprise follow-through and newer tools
Twistle, Commure Engage, and Get Well sell follow-through at health-system scale. They stay on this map. We are not shipping thin versus pages for them.
Newer AI protocol and text-coach tools launched in 2025 and 2026. We don’t publish head-to-heads until there’s public traction.
ekco is not Eko Health (ekohealth.com), the digital stethoscope company.
Inboxes and practice OS
OhMD and Spruce win the phone queue and the team inbox. Clinics try them when patients fall off. Ad hoc messaging is not a scheduled care plan. Practice Better is the “why do I need ekco?” question for practices that already have protocols, automations, and a portal. Those tools document and message. ekco runs the plan on the schedule patients already answer. That is a works-with story, not a pick-one page.
Published head-to-head pages
We only ship compare pages when product overlap and public traction justify a table. Start withekco vs. BodySite for FM digital care, or Spruce and OhMD if you are weighing your clinic inbox.
- ekco vs. BodySite · BodySite runs care plans in a patient app. ekco runs the same plan in healthcare iMessage — no portal login for daily follow-through.
- ekco vs. OhMD · OhMD is patient access and inbox automation. ekco is care-plan execution between visits — a different buying reason.
- ekco vs. Spruce · Spruce is phones and team inbox. ekco executes the care plan on healthcare iMessage between visits.
Works with — not vs.
Fullscript, Cerbo, Practice Better, Healthie, and similar vendors are complements: where the plan lives or where orders ship. See what ekco connects with on the homepage, not head-to-head shopping pages.
Enterprise access platforms
Artera, Luma, and similar tools solve health-system access and operations. That is a different buying decision than care-plan execution for an independent clinic — we explain the distinction here instead of publishing misleading “ekco vs Artera” pages.
Questions
Are you Eko Health, the stethoscope company?
No. Ekco Health (ekcohealth.com) builds ekco, a text companion that runs a clinic’s care plan between visits. Eko Health (ekohealth.com) makes digital stethoscopes. Different companies.
Is ekco an EHR or a shared inbox?
Neither. The chart stays the system of record. Inbox tools answer phones and ad hoc texts. ekco sends the check-ins and running-low texts for your clinic.
Where does ekco fit if we already use Fullscript or Practice Better?
Those stay. Fullscript can stay the dispensary. Practice Better can stay the chart and portal. ekco is the between-visit texts, with the reorder in the same thread.
